Difference: Trailers, Social understanding.
This is an example of the difference of how things are shown and/or understood in the world.
Here is a Korean film, directed by Na Hong-Jin and selected for the 2008 Cannes festival.
Sorry I don't know the Tittle in Korean language!
But In English: The Chaser
and in French: Haut et Court
The Korean trailer, is almost exempt of socialy not correct views.
Violent scenes are suggested, no girl tied, no image about prostitution.
Since The Seoul Olympics, the korean governments try to give a "clean" image of the country.
In the french trailer, all what is missing in the korean one is shown.
Two reasons to this: money and different social values.

That is an interesting illustration.
The only thing I would add is that it may be impossible to make sense of the customs because they are not based on reality. It is not possible to keep knowledge of sex from children. Knowledge about sex and kinks does not damage people or generate sociopaths. Therefore, there is no public benefit in trying to regulate the entertainment of adults.
Maybe there is some evolutionary advantage to making the members of a group conform. In other words, in the long run it is good to have religious hypocrites around for some reason, maybe just as a kind of inertia so change is not too fast. It seems like the same kind of people keep showing up in history.
