Transcript of a radio exchange between a US Navy ship and canadian naval authotrities, off Newfounland coast (October 1995)

Americans: - "Change course 15 degrees North to avoid coliision – To you".

Canadians : - "Better that you change course 15 degrees South to avoid collision – To you".

Americans : - "The Captain of a US Navy ship speaking. I repeat : "Change YOUR course – To you".

Canadians : - "No, YOU change course, please – To you".

Americans ; - "HERE IS THE USS LINCOLN, THE SECOND BIGEST SHIP OF THE US NAVY HIGH SEA FLEET. WE ARE ESCORTED BY 3 CRUISERS, 3 DESTROYERS AND A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF OTHER SHIPS. I ASK AGAIN THAT YOU CHANGE COURSE BY 15 DEGREES NORTH, OTHERWISE WE’LL TAKE THE NECESSARY STEPS TO FORCE YOU IN WAY TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF OUR SHIP. To you".

Canadians : "Here is a lighthouse. To you".
